With over 175 industry suppliers, 100 talks and seminars from some of the leading minds in the profession, 25 interactive workshops and a focus on the future of accounting … I can’t wait for Accountex 2015.

This will be my first Accountex and I am super-excited to have been invited as a VIP guest of Sage. Here’s my round-up of what I’m looking forward to as I count down the sleeps and prepare to head down to ExCel London for the flagship event in the accounting calendar …

Exhibitors
My first shout-out goes to the exhibitors. Over 175 of them. Showcasing their latest products and services designed and developed to make our work better and drive forward our profession. Having worked in marketing I know how much time, effort and resource goes into exhibiting at a major event. It’s a huge investment and an exciting time for product launches. A key theme of Accountex 2015 is ‘Prepare for the future’ (AccountingWeb) and I look forward to seeing what’s new and how it can benefit our businesses and our clients.

Technology
Technology has changed the way we work and brought efficiencies to our practices. Advances in technology and cloud-based solutions open up wider market opportunities for our businesses. I will definitely be visiting the Sage stand for exclusive sneak previews of the latest technologies they’re developing and live demonstrations of software.

Talks and seminars
What a line-up of fabulous speakers! Topics include cloud, technology, moving your practice online, growing your practice, compliance, tax, marketing, pensions, auto-enrolment, creating the practice of the future, business funding … and more. I wish I could attend them all. My list of must attend seminars includes ‘The power of cloud’ by Piers Linney; technology entrepreneur, cloud computing pioneer and star of Dragons Den, ‘How to use perpetual change to fuel outstanding business success’ by world renowned speaker Jonathan MacDonald, Ari Last’s seminar ‘Exploring the world of alternative finance’ and Lee Perkins’ ‘Practice of the future’.

The future of accountancy
Our profession is experiencing an “era of unprecedented change” (AccountingWeb) and Accountex 2015 promises to deliver a feast of information, advice, products and solutions to help us move our practices into the future.

Networking
6000 visitors are expected to attend Accountex 2015. The networking opportunities are abundant. UK’s largest business exhibition The Business Show is also taking place at ExCel at the same time as Accountex, so I am looking forward to a very busy, enjoyable and inspiring couple of days.

What strikes me as utterly brilliant about the line-up for Accountex 2015, is that whatever your current focus or objectives might be for yourself, your practice and your clients, there is definitely something to help you be the accountant of your dreams.

I will be live tweeting at the event (@tracey_bird) and look forward to sharing my Accountex 2015 highlights and experience in a follow-up blog.

Hopefully see you there! How many sleeps?
